About this Course

About This Learning Material

How can technology make urban transportation safer, more efficient and more accessible?

This learning material introduces participants to the fundamentals of electronics and the Internet of Things (IoT), exploring how connected devices can address everyday urban mobility challenges.

Through practical examples, participants will discover how sensors collect information, how controllers process data, and how communication networks connect physical infrastructure with digital services.

The presentation explores real-world applications such as smart parking, public transport tracking, bicycle-sharing infrastructure and connected mobility services.

From Technology to Urban Solutions

Participants will also explore the importance of data accuracy, reliability, privacy and responsible system design.

The learning material concludes with a short design challenge in which participants consider how to develop a smart bicycle parking solution near a tram stop.

The objective is to build a foundational understanding of connected technologies and encourage participants to identify opportunities for developing innovative solutions to urban mobility challenges.
