About this Course
About This Learning Material
How does an idea become a physical object?
This learning material introduces participants to the complete digital fabrication process, from designing a 3D model to preparing and producing a physical prototype using additive manufacturing technologies.
Participants will explore the fundamentals of computer-aided design (CAD) using FreeCAD, learn how to prepare models for printing in Bambu Studio, and understand the working principles of Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printers.
From Digital Models to Functional Prototypes
The material covers essential design and production concepts, including parametric modeling, dimensional accuracy, slicing, print orientation, material selection, support structures and basic troubleshooting.
Special attention is given to practical applications of 3D printing in urban mobility, such as manufacturing transportation components, developing sensor housings, creating infrastructure models and designing accessories for bicycles and electric vehicles.
Through guided examples, including a simple key tag and a bus stop sensor housing, participants will explore how digital fabrication can support rapid prototyping and iterative product development.
The objective is to equip participants with foundational knowledge and practical design skills that can help them transform innovative ideas into tangible solutions for urban mobility challenges.
