The challenge
Challenge question: How can we make the journey to and from school safer, more accessible and environmentally sustainable for students in Sarajevo? Thousands of students travel daily to schools using public transport, private vehicles, bicycles or walking. Common challenges include unsafe pedestrian crossings, traffic congestion near schools, limited bicycle infrastructure, inadequate public transport information and accessibility barriers. Your task is to identify a specific mobility problem experienced by students and propose an innovative solution, using the knowledge and skills acquired during Modules 1, 2 and 3. Selection: the jury evaluates all submissions online. One winning team from each participating school qualifies for the Final Demo Day (21 teams -> 7 finalist teams).
Identify a specific problem, explain its significance and present a realistic solution. Show how technology, design thinking, sustainability principles or innovative mobility approaches could address it. Your solution could involve: - A smart pedestrian crossing concept - A digital application promoting safe school routes - An intelligent school-zone warning system - A sustainable student mobility solution - Improved public transport accessibility - A technology-enabled traffic safety concept No physical prototype is necessary.
A seven-slide PowerPoint presentation using the mandatory CityMakers template, uploaded to your team workspace before the deadline.
